Automobile Components Business

Toyo has built up an array of proprietary design, development and production technologies within the machine tool field. We are using them to manufacture a range of automotive components and so expand the scope of our business.

Our active involvement in the automobile components business began in 1985, with the manufacture of automatic transmission oil pumps; In 2002 we began production of CVT oil pumps. In 2009, cumulative total production reached 15 million units. We have developed high performance oil pumps which fit AT or CVT, making the best use of our own hydraulic technology and noise reduction technology. Using our exclusive hydraulic control technology, torque limiting technology, and weight reduction technology, we have developed high-performance oil pumps for automatic and continuously variable transmissions(CVT). These are now mass produced at low cost while maintaining excellent quality.

In the years ahead we will continue to refine our existing technologies while developing superior new technologies, expanding into a wide range of fields with oil pumps as our core business.
Our automobile components business has been growing steadily as one of our key departments.

History of Toyo Oil Pumps

Toyo started manufacturing oil pumps in 1985 in a move to stabilize and diversify its business. Our first products were vane-type oil pumps for Mazda AT systems, implemented using hydraulic and production technologies originally developed for our machine tools. A new gear-type oil pump, offering reduced cost and improved fuel efficiency, began mass production in 1989. In 2002 we began supplying two types of continuously variable transmission (CVT) oil pump for manufacturers of automotive transmission systems, one for compact front-engine front-drive (FF) vehicles and one for larger FF vehicles. At the same time, our production volumes increased dramatically. Our cumulative production exceeded 15 million units in December 2009. In 2006 we added oil pumps for six-speed AT systems to our product lineup. Toyo's annual production of AT oil pumps is over one million units.

As a manufacturer specializing in oil pumps, Toyo is able to cover the entire product development and commercialization process. We handle all stages of the AT oil pump design cycle in house, from initial concept to full mass production via design, prototyping, development and performance testing.
