Evaluation method of resin fluidity

The surfaces of the spiral flow molds are variously coated and each flow length of resin is measured by injection molding in the cavity.
The spiral flow molds
  • Spiral width: 10 mm; Spiral thickness: 1 mm
  • Material: Starbucks + Ni-P
  • Surface coating: Uncoated (Ni-P), DLC, and SPAT Coat

    (1) ZEONOR 1060R (ZEON CORPORATION)
    (2) Polycarbonate LC1500 (Idemitsu Petrochemical)

    Injection pressure Injection rate
    (1)ZEONOR 175MPa 770cc/s
    (2)Polycarbonate 175MPa 157cc/s


Results

Comparing the cases of mold temperature change and Coating using the case "Uncoated surface at mold temperature of 80°C" as a benchmark,

The fluidity with SPAT Coat was remarkably better than the raised mold temperature
