TiC is produced by the CVD method. Evaporated Titanium gas reacts with Carbon on the surface of work at high temperature and forms hard Titanium Carbide film which adheres firmly on the base metal.
TiCN is a three-layers-coating consist of TiC-TiCN-TiN by CVD method and can maintain hardness and toughness as well.
