Development of TVG-20C-2S Vertical Composite Grinding Machine.
- New TVG Series Product to Appear at MECT 2015 -

  • Toyo Advanced Technologies (head office: Minami-ku, Hiroshima; president: Nobuhiko Narisawa) has newly developed the TVG-20C-2S, a compact vertical composite grinding machine. It will be exhibited at "Mechatronics Technology (MECT) Japan 2015", which is to be held at the Port Messe Nagoya exhibition hall starting October 21. Launched in October 2010, the TVG Series has revolutionized the conventional structure of vertical grinding machines. With a lineup that currently ranges from the compact TVG-15C to the large-scale TVG-90C, this series provides excellent cost performance with high precision and efficiency, making it a customer favorite.

The newly developed TVG-20C-2S is a model that has been added to the lineup to cover needs that fall between the compact TVG-15C (150 mm maximum machining diameter, fixed main spindle, for mass production) and TVG-35C (350 mm maximum machining diameter, movable main spindle, for variable-type/quantity production). It is suitable for variable-type/quantity production of ID 200 mm (OD 320 mm) and smaller workpieces that cannot be covered by the TVG-15C. It follows in the footsteps of the TVG-35C and higher models in that it utilizes an independent cutting spindle (X-axis) and table spindle (Z-axis), with the main spindle situated on the X-axis, a unique movable main spindle system. This reduces Z-axis torsion caused by machining loads and achieves high-precision machining thanks to a low center of gravity and high rigidity.

While compact in size (just 1,600 mm front width), the machine is equipped with a turret device as well as two wheel heads (for ID and OD) and one auto tool changer. It can perform one-chuck composite grinding of ID, OD, and end faces, as well as mass production, high-variety small-lot production, and other variable-type/quantity production.

Mechatronics Technology (MECT) Japan is a machine tool exhibition that is held in odd-numbered years in Nagoya. Among the machine tool exhibitions held in Japan, it is second in size only to the Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF). At MECT 2015, the TVG-20C-2S is expected to be combined with a 6-axis robot and 6-specification work stocker in an exhibition that simulates a gear production line.
