Announcing the Development of TVG-15CA Vertical Internal Grinding Machine
― Exhibiting Three Internal Grinding Machines that Provide Unmanned Labor-Saving Operation at the 29th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2018) ―
Toyo Advanced Technologies Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minami-ku, Hiroshima; President: Masahiko Ichida) has announced the introduction of the newly developed compact TVG-15CA vertical internal grinding machine and that this new model will be on display at the 29th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2018), opening at the Tokyo Big Sight from Nov. 1. With "The Next Grinding Solution — Insistence on precision without limit" as Toyo Advanced Technologies' theme for this exhibition, the company will be displaying three models consisting of the TVG-15CA, as well as the THG-15S, a shoe centerless-type of horizontal internal grinding machine, and the T-11JB, a general-purpose horizontal internal grinding machine. All machines are equipped with robots as well as other devices such as automatic tool changers (ATC) and newly developed automatic jig changers (quick change mechanism) that are combined to provide actual unmanned labor-saving operation. The company will also be exhibiting state-of-the-art technology for the Internet of Things.
The newly developed TVG-15CA is a successor to the TVG-15C vertical internal grinding machine (chucking type), with the new model representing a further evolution of the technology while maintaining the functions that make the TVG-15C a customer favorite.
The width of the machine has been reduced to 1,000 mm (previous width is 1,060 mm) to make it more easily compatible with your production line. Additionally, the bed and column integrated in a single structure has been carried over, while mechanical rigidity has been further increased by widening the Z-axis guide span in order to improve basic machine functionality. Innovations such as the adoption of an oil pan, linear scale, and similar components to greatly reduce the effects of heat, and increasing the speed capacity of the main spindle rotating workpieces to up to a maximum of 2,000 min-1 to improve machining efficiency serve to provide high productivity while also maintaining a high level of precision.
The displayed machine is optionally equipped with a robot and ATC in order to provide unmanned mass production. The robot has hands for workpiece mounting/removal and the ATC, and performs automatic hand switching to match the desired usage. This is the first time a machine of the TVG-15 Series has been equipped with an ATC.
The THG-15S, a shoe centerless-type of horizontal internal grinding machine that has been highly praised for its high-precision high-efficiency performance, has been equipped with an automated option that provides unmanned operation even with small-lot production requiring numerous setup changes.
For shoe centerless-type machines, you need to change jigs (shoe assemblies and nose pieces) around the main spindle and grinding wheels, adjust the shooter, and perform similar setup work when changing the workpiece. A quick-change mechanism has been newly developed to provide easy setup of jigs around the main spindle and equipped to this machine. Jigs using this mechanism are set up by the robot equipped inside the machine so that jigs can be automatically replaced for each workpiece. Additionally, adoption of a highly versatile robot to replace the shooter, which requires adjustment by a worker, enables mounting/removal and transport of a wide variety of workpieces. Moreover, this is the first time a Toyo Advanced Technologies' horizontal internal grinding machine has been equipped with an ATC, which enables unmanned operation even with a large variety of workpieces.
These devices greatly reduce the human work required for setup and allow work to progress without stopping machine operation, thereby drastically reducing the setup time.
This is a new product just released last month and appears in an exhibit for the first time. The latest model of the TVG series with adoption of the spindle travel mechanism is a compact vertical multi-face grinding machine of the shoe centerless type. The show model is equipped with a turret device containing two wheel heads for inside and outside diameters, an ATC that houses six grinding wheels, and an automatic shoe offset switch device to enable internal and external grinding. At the same time, the combination with robots and transfer devices realized multiple machining processes for the inside and outside diameters with a single chucking action, as well as the unattended production lines. The (chuck type) TVG-20C vertical multi-face grinding machine has already gained an excellent reputation with customers.
Toyo Advanced Technologies is also presenting solutions integrating the new TOYOMATIC 4000 and 5000i CNC units with IoT technology. At the JIMTOF exhibition, the company will be displaying various solutions for becoming a connected industry, including the Remote Monitoring function that provides real-time diagnosis of machines from a remote location enabled by connecting machines (CNC units) to the Internet, as well the TOYO Machine Connect function in which machines in a factory are network-connected for use not only in monitoring operating conditions but also in analyzing productivity and grinding quality.
